At CBE, we believe in doing the right thing—always. If you ever notice something that feels wrong or doesn’t sit right, we want you to feel safe and supported in speaking up. This policy is here to make sure you can raise concerns without fear and with full confidence that we’ll handle them fairly and respectfully.
Whistleblowing simply means sharing information about wrongdoing. The law (Public Interest Disclosure Act 1998) protects you when you raise concerns in good faith and in the public interest.
You might speak up about things like:
Fraud or other criminal activity
Breaking the law or regulations
Miscarriages of justice
Health and safety risks
Building Safety
Competition & Markets infringement
Environmental damage
Covering up any of the above
If you raise a concern honestly and in good faith, you will not face any punishment, victimisation, or negative treatment. We’ll do everything we can to keep your identity confidential, though sometimes the law may require us to share it. If that happens, we’ll talk to you first.
You can also report anonymously, but it may make it harder for us to investigate. If you’d like to stay anonymous, we can suggest ways to help, like using a private email address or arranging a phone call without sharing your details.
We understand that speaking up can feel stressful. That’s why we offer confidential psychological support for anyone affected by a whistleblowing situation. Details will be shared once we acknowledge your concern.
We encourage you to raise concerns internally first—it’s usually the quickest and most effective way to resolve issues. Here’s how:

Once you raise a concern:
1. Acknowledgement – We’ll confirm we’ve received your concern within 10 working days (unless you’re anonymous).
2. Initial Review – A senior manager will look into the matter and may speak with you confidentially if you’re comfortable.
3. Investigation – If needed, we’ll carry out a formal investigation. We’ll keep you updated as much as possible, while respecting confidentiality.
4. Outcome – We’ll let you know the result and any actions taken, within legal and privacy limits.
We strongly encourage internal reporting first. If you feel you can’t raise your concern internally, you may contact the relevant regulator (e.g., Health and Safety Executive). If you choose this route, you may need to explain why internal reporting wasn’t suitable. Please seek advice before going external.
